Mindenmines
Mindenmines is a town on the southern border of Kansas and Missouri.
Words and Music by Evan Hause
Saturday night flying through fields
Bugs slappin' 'gainst the windshield
High beams on, open windows
Kansas cowshit floods my nose
It's been awhile but I know it's the same
Podunk town with the singsong name
Late Fall afternoon on my way back
Saw a flock of blackbirds on a curious tack
Pitching and rolling 'gainst a bottomless sky
Thought: this is country with room to fly
Simple thoughts, pulsations of life
I dreamed of when you'd be my wife
Early Winter evening we came this way
Raging orange sun concluding the day
Long shadows, dark silhouettes
Silos etched like minarets
Driving in silence home to bed
Were thoughts of leaving me in your head?
Saturday night third time around
Flying through this lyrical town
Head to a bar across the state line
Drinking beer and mindin' mine
Slow dance with the cowgirls and touch their wide hips
Maybe capture a taste of you on their lips
