Evan Hause (a.k.a. DR. HOSS) is to reprise his one-man rendition of the entire KISS Alive! album on August 9, 2003 at 8:00 PM at Medicine Show Theater, 549 W. 52nd Street, 3rd Floor, Manhattan (between 10th and 11th Aves.), in addition to another milestone album of the Heavy Metal genre!
In April of 2000, classical composer Evan Hause took the floor at ABC No Rio on the Lower East Side of Manhattan armed with nothing but a guitar and blew through all four album sides of one of the greatest live rock and roll albums of all time, Alive! by KISS. Part party, part tribute, part hyper-kinetic musical exploration, part academic lecture, the show was unforgettable to those who attended. Back by popular demand, this daring feat of guitar-playing and vocalizing returns to NYC's Medicine Show Theater on Saturday night, August 9.
Hause doubles the pleasure with a second half performance of the first album ever released by one of the grandfathers of Heavy Metal, Black Sabbath. Released Friday the 13th, February, 1970, this free-form power blues extravaganza was born from John "Ozzy" Osbourne and Co.'s relentless live act, honed in the bars of working-class Birmingham, England. Part kick-out-the-jams band and part prosyletizers of doom and destruction, Black Sabbath contributed the most memorable metal riffs ever to shoot through a Marshall. In the free-form spirit, Hause will render this LP on an amplified old upright piano.
Between the two albums, a wholly original rock band, THE LEADER, will perform. The Leader has been desribed by a perhaps over enthusiastic fan as a "cacophony of sounds". Their music is a freewheeling trek through the band members musical obsessions- punk, country, pop standards, and rock-n-roll. Recording, performing and touring steadily for 4 years now The Leader's core is bass and drums, embellished with everything from b-3 organ and trumpet, to vibraphone and jawharp.Their signature sound is a duet in two-part harmony, sung by songwriters Sam Lazzara and Julie DeLano.
